The complex, which is being built at Soon Lee Road, will house a football field, an amphitheatre to screen ethnic movies, multi-purpose sports courts, postal and remittance facilities, a beer garden, a medical station, a canteen, a supermart with ethnic foods and lots of open spaces, said MP for Pioneer Cedric Foo.
He told The Straits Times that the complex is intended for foreign workers who live close to Jurong West.
'This is a way to show our appreciation for their contributions to the economy and also provide them proper facilities to unwind, relax and socialise after work.
'Such a facility sure beats HDB void decks,' he said.
The Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL) will fork out about $5 million to build the facilities.
