MANILA - PHILIPPINES President Gloria Arroyo has undergone tests for cancer but doctors found no malignant growths, her spokesman said on Thursday.
Biopsies were carried out this week after a 'certain mass' was found in the 62 year-old grandmother's groin and breast, presidential spokesman Cerge Remonde told reporters.
'Indeed she is in top shape,' Mr Remonde said, declining to provide details.
Arroyo had checked into a Manila hospital early this week on her arrival from a Latin American tour as a precautionary self-quarantine measure against H1N1 flu, which has infected nearly 2,000 people in the Philippines.
It was understood that the biopsies were performed during her stay in hospital.
