Guard's gun goes off in bank

PETALING JAYA - A BANK security guard is believed to have accidentally discharged his pumpgun in a bank here, injuring a bank employee and a customer.

Witnesses said that in the 1.30pm incident, people in the bank had a shock when there was a sudden a loud bang.

They then noticed that two people were bleeding.

They called the ambulance and both the injured were rushed to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). One of them is in serious but stable condition.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed confirmed the incident, adding that police have detained the 43-year-old guard.

'We are still investigating how the pumpgun was discharged. We may obtain the bank?s closed-circuit television recording to view what happened,' he said. -- THE STAR/ANN
