JAKARTA - A STRONG 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck in the ocean between the Philippines and Indonesia on Monday, geologists said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The US Geological Survey said the epicentre was about 296 kilometres south-southeast of General Santos in the Philippines.
The quake, which struck at 10.15 pm was located around 35 kilometres below sea level.
It was followed around 10 minutes later by an aftershock with a magnitude of 5.0.
