KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIA will bring forward a review of gas prices in line with a drop in oil prices, a newspaper reported on Thursday quoting a government minister.
Energy Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor said the Economic Planning Unit, a government agency, would conduct a review and propose a new gas price to his ministry.
'In view of the declining price of oil and calls by the industry players for a review of gas prices, the ministry has pushed for a review of the price of gas that (state oil firm) Petronas sells to the power sector,' Mr Shaziman was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.
'This would also enable a review of the electricity tariff in the near future.'
The gas price review was earlier planned for June, to take effect on July 1. -- REUTERS
