Army spokesman Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the navy and air force agreed with army commander Gen. Anupong Paochinda's plan to send personnel to help police cope with protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy, who tried on Tuesday to blockade parliament.
The police cleared the protesters Tuesday morning by using tear gas, but the demonstrators kept regrouping to confront them, leaving more than 100 people injured.
Col Sansern said the military personnel would not carry firearms.
