TOKYO - ALL Nippon Airways, Japan's second largest carrier, is considering slashing its planned capital investment by as much as one-fifth because of the financial crisis, its president said.
ANA may reduce the 924 billion yen (S$15.17 billion) it has earmarked for investment through March 2012 by 100-200 billion yen, Mr Mineo Yamamoto said in an interview with the Nikkei business daily published on Friday.
The carrier, which had been enjoying strong profits before the credit crunch erupted, will delay or scrap plans to improve its airport facilities and withdraw from unprofitable routes, the report said.
Mr Yamamoto also voiced frustration over delays to the delivery of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane, which Boeing said on Thursday would not be delivered until early 2010 because of production and labour problems.
