'Obama' at Disney World

MIAMI - A MODEL of US President Barack Obama will make its debut at the 'Hall of Presidents' in Orlando's Disney World during Independence Day celebrations on Saturday, Disney announced.

The 'Hall of Presidents' show was suspended for eight months while it was being retooled to accommodate the newest addition.

Disney engineers worked with White House officials and the president himself, who filmed and recorded a brief speech for them.

The Obama figure is the most dynamic ever created by Disney, according to a statement put out by the company.

Audio engineers and Disney animators managed to find new ways to integrate the voice and facial gestures of the president with details of his clothes and appearance.

Mr Obama will now occupy space alongside other presidential figures representing Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and other more recent presidents.

Kathy Rogers, senior show producer for Walt Disney Imagineering said the show pays particular tribute to the strength of the bond between the people and the presidents 'that led us through the most troubling times in our nation's history.'

The new show and its latest addition premiered on Friday before 1,000 immigrants from over 100 countries who became US citizens after taking their naturalisation oaths at Disney World as part of the weekend's July 4th Independence Day celebrations. -- AFP
