NEW YORK - FIFTEEN-year-old Kate Moore of Des Moines, Iowa, is the new LG US National Texting Championship winner.
She beat out 20 other finalists from around the country on Tuesday and takes home US$50,000 (S$73,000) for her speedy and accurate texting.
Over two days, Moore outperformed other contestants at challenges such as texting blindfolded and texting while manoeuvring through a moving obstacle course.
In the final showdown, she beat 14-year-old Savannah, Georgia, resident Morgan Dynda. Both girls had to text three lengthy phrases without making any mistakes on abbreviations, capitalisation or punctuation.
Every one of the contestants got a question wrong. None of them knew that PAW is text-speak for 'parents are watching'. -- AP
