Jai ho for Indian lit fest
SINGAPORE-based Indian lifestyle magazine India Se is organising Singapore's first Indian Writers' Festival this Saturday, with the aim of introducing more of the richness of the Indian literary world to readers here.

The inaugural festival, which India Se hopes to make an annual affair, will feature writers who are well known in their Indian community. They are Shobhaa De, a leading social commentator and author; Anita Jain, a bestselling Indian-American memoirist; Sudeep Chakravarti, a novelist often described as India's J D Salinger; and China specialist Poonam Surie.

Perhaps most familiar to non-Indian audiences is not a writer but a filmmaker - Loveleen Tandan, co-director of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire.

On Saturday morning, she will co-host a scriptwriting workshop with Venita Coelho, a leading Bollywood screenwriter who has penned scripts for top young director Karan Johar.
