LOS ANGELES - ACTOR Macaulay Culkin's elder sister has died after being struck by a car in a traffic accident, authorities in Los Angeles confirmed on Thursday.

Dakota Culkin, 29, died in UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday following the accident late on Tuesday. Los Angeles Police Department officials said she had stepped in front of a car.

Macaulay Culkin, 28, is best known for starring in a string of hit comedies in the early 1990s including 'Home Alone', 'Home Alone 2'.

He has not appeared in a major Hollywood film since 1994's 'Richie Rich'. -- AFP
