LONDON - TROUBLED British soul singer Amy Winehouse was admitted to a hospital over the weekend because of a bad reaction to medication, her spokesman said on Tuesday.
The news comes a day after her husband Blake Fielder-Civil lost his appeal against a jail sentence for a vicious attack on a pub landlord and a subsequent attempt to cover it up.
Winehouse, 25, had 'a bad reaction to the combination of medication she has currently been prescribed,' said a spokesman for the Grammy Award-winning artist, who was admitted to a private London clinic on Sunday.
'Amy is on a drug replacement programme and has had bad reactions to her medication before,' a friend told the Daily Mirror tabloid.
Winehouse, who is fighting drug and alcohol problems, has suffered a string of health scares since apparently being caught smoking crack cocaine in footage released by The Sun newspaper in January. -- AFP
