TAIWANESE girl band S.H.E are smart enough to know that they should stick to their day job. To promote their 11th and latest album FM, the trio's record company set up a temporary Internet radio station for them in Taiwan last month, turning them into impromptu radio deejays.
Although the daily one-hour talk show they hosted lasted only a month, the singers - Ella Chen, Hebe Tien and Selina Jen - were not too sad to see it end.
A chatty Chen, 27, tells Life! over the telephone in Mandarin from Taiwan recently: 'It was very difficult being radio deejays as we had to keep coming up with many different topics to talk about or there would be dead silence on air.'
Jen, 27, agrees, saying: 'We had fun interviewing other stars on the programme but we are not too keen on being deejays. We won't mind being guest deejays at other radio stations though, that will be fun.'
Their album, which takes on the format of a radio talk show at the beginning, declares that the trio are going to bring joy to listeners through their songs despite the gloomy outlook of this year.
Among the top artists they interviewed, pop queen A-mei was the most unforgettable, they say.
Chen says: 'I was so nervous that I did not ask any questions when we went on air and A-mei had to prompt me to talk. It was embarrassing.'
The bubbly trio also stress they did not ask gossipy questions about the celebrities' private lives.
Tien, 25, says: 'We are also artists, so we know what it is like. So we made it a point not to let our interviewees go through the same thing.'
