IMMIGRATION and narcotics officers arrested three Malaysians and seized an assortment of drugs with a street value of $64,600 on Saturday.

Immigration and K-9 officers found 690 'Ermin 5' tablets and about 227.9g of heroin stashed in the rear passenger seat of a Singapore-registered taxi at about 10.53am, a joint statement from the Immigration and Checkpoint Authorities and Central Nacortics Bureau said on Monday.

The vehicle was driven by a 71-year-old Singaporean man who was ferrying a 26-year-old Malaysian Chinese man.

The Malaysian suspect admitted ownership of the drugs and claimed that he was to deliver the drugs to a woman at a Woodlands taxi stand. He would be paid 50 Malaysian ringgit (S$20.90) for it.

Officers from the Central Nacortics Bureau (CNB) were subsequently dispatched to the taxi stand.

CNB officers spotted the suspected reciepient, a 29-year-old Malaysian woman, and her accomplice, a 24-year-old Malaysian Chinese man in a Mitsubishi Gallant, at about 12.25pm

The officers moved in to arrest the duo.

About 0.7g of 'Ice', 50 'Ecstasy' tablets, one 'Ermin-5' tablet and a stun gun were seized from the vehicle.

Officers later also found three 'Ermin-5' tablets on the woman and 0.6g of 'Ice' from the man.

In total, officers seized 227.9g of heroin, 1.3g of 'Ice', 694 'Ermin-5' tablets and 50 'Ecstasy' tablets. A digital weighing scale and drug paraphernalia were also recovered.

If convicted, the Malaysian suspects will face a minimum of five years in jail and five strokes of the cane. The woman will be exempt from canning.

The Singaporean taxi dirver has since been released pending further investigations.
