Sabotage caused bus fire?
BEIJING - SABOTAGE was a possible cause of a fire that engulfed a public bus and killed 25 people in southwestern Sichuan Province a day earlier, a Chinese official said on Saturday, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to an initial investigation 'self-combustion or a mechanical glitch' were not the causes of the blaze, Hu Qinghan, director of the Chengdu Communications Commission, was quoted by Xinhua as saying.

'The blaze was not fuelled by diesel in the oil tank,' said Mr Hu, who was speaking from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan.

The bus had undergone a routine maintenance check on May 25 and there were no mechanical problems found with the engine, said Hu.

The blaze also injured 76 people. -- REUTERS
