SEOUL (South Korea) - SOUTH Korean authorities say tests confirm a Vietnamese traveler has swine flu.
The 22-year-old was quarantined at Incheon international airport on Sunday after arriving from Seattle with a fever. She had been planning to catch a connecting flight to Vietnam.
The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in South Korea says tests confirm she has the same virus that has sickened thousands of people in dozens of countries. It's the fourth confirmed case of the new flu virus in South Korea. The three others with the flu have recovered.
In Beijing, the Health Ministry confirmed a fourth case of swine flu on the Chinese mainland Tuesday in a man recently returned from the United States and Canada.
Separately, the official Xinhua News Agency said an Italian citizen visiting Tibet had been listed as a suspected case, but gave no details.
China has had seven cases of the disease overall, four on the mainland and three in its territory Hong Kong. None have become seriously ill.
The ministry says the man, surnamed Yang, had earlier arrived in Hong Kong on a flight from the US via South Korea. It said he had been travelling in the US and Canada prior to his return. Testing confirmed Tuesday he had the virus. People who had close contact with him have been traced and none have shown symptoms of swine flu. -- AP
