1 killed as tourist train derails

SHIMLA (India) - ONE person was killed and six other injured when a train carrying tourists to the hill town of Shimla in northern India derailed on Sunday, officials said.

The narrow-gauge train, which is listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, travels on a winding track from the town of Kalka up to Shimla, the former summer capital of India during British rule.

'The train derailed near Dharampur this morning killing one person and injuring six,' said Mr P.S. Gill, Shimla's railway station master told AFP. -- AFP
