HONG KONG - HONG KONG police say they have arrested two Singaporean men at the international airport with 2.2 pounds (1 kilogramme) of methamphetamines.
Police say officers intercepted the pair on Friday morning in the departure hall of the airport and found packets of the drugs concealed around their waists.
A police statement said that the men, ages 35 and 41, were about to fly to Japan.
Police also say the drugs have a market value of 560,000 Hong Kong dollars (S$110,027) but could reach as much as HK$1.67 million if they are sold in Japan.
Under the Hong Kong law, the two face up to life imprisonment and a fine of HK$5 million (S$982,389). -- AP
